grow

As the seed receives and is transformed, it begins to grow into a seedling.  Now it is no longer just passively receiving water and sunlight, but is also actively digging in the soil for nutrients, and spreading towards the sun to take in even more of its rays.  Read Acts 9:20-28 where Paul begins to put his newfound faith in Jesus into practice, and is taken under the wing of Barnabas, a leader in the early church.  A growing disciple is learning to take responsibility for themselves, their own faith, and their own spiritual journey.  The individual Christian is learning to pray and hear God, learning to engage with scripture, learning to share their faith, and learning to put into practice the teaching of Jesus in all of their relationships.
